24 years!!

January 10, 1986
Los Angeles, California Temple
It was a long, tiring, fabulous day!

Doug and I have been married for 24 years!! I can hardly believe it! Sometimes it seems like just yesterday, (well, not quite yesterday!) where has the time gone, and yet sometimes I don't remember it any other way!

I've been married for more than half my life, that just seems incredible to me!

I went searching for a couple of pics, I don't have very many. We didn't have much money and so didn't hire a photographer, probably my only regret as to how we did our wedding. Very low budget, no debt. You can skimp on just about anything else, but the photographs bring the memory back to life! Doug's brother, Merlin, was supposed to take the photos, and was doing a great job, but we had a friend kind of take over and didn't focus the camera. So we have a bunch of great blurry pictures! Oh well, we do have some good ones, too!
Happy Anniversary, Sweetheart! I Love You!!

Finally Updated the Header!

Some of the kids have been bugging me and bugging me to change the pic in our header. It is 1 1/2 years old. Most of us have changed quite a bit.

Even though we were all together throughout the holidays we didn't get a pic of all 13 of us or should I say 15 of us, this is the best I could do for now!!

Beth's First Day!

After almost a whole year of looking for a job, Beth finally got one!! Not her first choice, but at this point she's way happy to have one.

She had her first shift last night. She worked from 6pm to just after 10. She came home and bounded through the door in her uniform, "Want to take a picture?!!"

This is how she looked after her first shift! They all turned out so cute and might I say BEAUTIFUL I had to put them all in!

Isn't she just the cutest thing?!!
She was just giddy, I don't think she's as excited about the job itself as much as the idea of earning her own money! I hope she keeps her perspective when the newness wears off!

New Year's Resolutions

I have such mixed feeling about resolutions. I know it's a very good thing to make goals and work towards those goals through out our entire lives. I make goals all the time, usually short term, you know the kind that you just do it, and it's done. I guess I do better with those. The kind that I have to keep doing are tougher.

I think about all the things I want to accomplish and do better with, it can be quite overwhelming! There is so much self improvement needed, so many projects to finish and start. I'm not sure how to go about it.

Last year I sat down and wrote out several goals and details on how I was going to accomplish them. It started out great. I felt good about what I was doing, but somehow it petered out and I just couldn't keep it up for more than a few months. I went in spurts all year.

I did get close enough to one of those goals to say I actually accomplished it. That was to fill all my canning jars. No empty jars! I did fill all my quart jars, and just about all my pints. We did 110 quarts apples, 60 quarts peaches, various quarts of tomatoes, tomatoe sauce, apricots, apricot sauce, 24 quarts of candied pickles, all sorts of jams, salsa, and pickles in my pints. Some of which we love so much, I wish we would have canned more.

It is awesome to know that all the space those canning jars are taking up, are now filled with food we can eat, instead of empty jars!! The funny thing with that is the very same day I could say, I accomplished that goal, all my jars are fillled, we opened a couple and ate them with our dinner that night!! Like laundry, it's never really done!!! Although, I decided that as I empty them of the food, I wash them in the dishwasher and fill them with water to store them until I can fill them with food again. At least they are not empty!!

Anyway, my point is I guess no matter how hard it is to keep resolutions (or make goals), we must keep trying to succeed. We must keep trying to improve our lives and the lives of the people around us. No matter how many times we fall, we must pick ourselves back up and try again!!

We cannot fail if we never give up!!

Back to the Routine

I just can't believe we are in the first week of January already. 2009 came and went so fast, it is a blurr!!

I am glad to have the routine of the kids being back in school. It seems we had one huge party that started with the last day of school before the Christmas break and then Aaron's birthday, and it just never stopped!!

I am not so happy to be back in homework mode. I can hardly believe we have less than two weeks to the end of the term, which will mark the halfway mark of the school year!!

I am working on a slide show of 2009, like I did last year. I am excited, it's turning out pretty good. I hope to get it on here by the end of the week!
