General Conference Packets!

I can't believe it's already time for General Conference. We had Stake Conference a couple weeks ago, I can't tell you how disappointed my kids were to find out that it wasn't the same thing as General Conference. Ever since then, they have been bugging and asking...when is general conference. Last night as Tiff was going to bed, I told her it was next week, she was so excited and said, "I love general conference!!" Now I know they don't love conference because they love to sit and listen to all the talks, but they do love working on their packets, hey, it's a start, right?!!!

Anyway, here is the link to where I got it this time....

Oct 2009 General Conf Packet

Hope you guys have as much fun as we do!!

We have lots of family coming, and we are way excited!

Carrots!

About a week ago, I pulled a couple of carrots out of the garden just to see how big they are getting...Not bad for how hard our ground is!

Aaron got a kick out of it and couldn't wait to eat them!!
He didn't care too much for the long, skinny root off the bottom. But once we cut that off he kept asking for more until they were all gone!!

Homecoming!

Our Homecoming was back on the weekend of the 12th. We had both Ben and Beth get to go.

I don't have one yet of Ben with his date, you know he goes and picks her up. (I never get to see the couple together until the pics come back when they do the asking.) Anyway, here is Ben...

Here are some pics, Beth of course was quite stunning!!!

We really lucked out on her dress, One of her Young Women's leaders got a tip about a place that rents formal and semi formal dresses for these things. We got the dress, shoes, and jewelry for only $50! Cool Deal!!! (I tried to add one more closer up, but for some reason blogger wouldn't let me. Sorry!)

It really was nice to be asked to her first dance by a good friend. Don't have to be quite so nervous!!

What a night, we had just enough time to get these guys out the door and we had to scoot for the adult session of our stake conference! As usual, craziness all around!!

Gilligan!!!

I know it's been a while since my last post. Doug is kind of monopolizing our lap top and I've been really busy with canning and freezing!

I have a few fun things to post about I will try to get to as many as I can.

The first is about Gilligan!

Our kids have discovered the TV Series "Gilligan's Island". A long time ago (I'm not even sure how long ago), Doug got all three seasons for a good deal, I guess, because he got all three. We only watched a few episodes from one of the seasons and it has been just sitting around untouched for a while. A few weeks ago, one of the kids found it and started watching it. It sure didn't take long before most of the were watching. It was hilarious to watch them watch it. They got such a kick out of Gilligan and would just laugh and giggle right out loud. Then, they found the other two seasons. It's just been Gilligan when ever they got the chance! Even Natalie often asks for Gilligan!

Now all the younger kids can sing the theme song! I think it's hilarious!!

Here is Tiffany singing the whole thing...(her version of it anyway!)

Here is Natalie singing her version of it...(both of these just crack me up, I had to share!!)

It's hilarious to hear them talk about Gilligan with their friends. None of them have heard about him. They try to explain some of the episodes and their friends want to come over to watch it!!

We were thinking...maybe, after Doug finds a job, we should try to find some more of these long lost TV series that they would enjoy! So I'm looking for ideas. Remember these are for my young ones, so they have to be good, clean fun.

No drinking, smoking or scantily dressed genies! :) We've already nixed Bewitched & I Dream of Genie although I enjoyed them as a kid, not exactly what I want my kids watching! We saw an episode of Hogan's Heroes the other night, We thought it was funny, but they just didn't "get it".

Any other ideas??

Busy, Busy...

We are doing better with the colds, I think we are over the worst of it. We just have the residual coughs now. That part seems to last forever.

I can hardly believe we are into the third week of school. Trying desperately to get into a nice after school routine. Morning routine seems to be going smoothly, it's the after school one that I'm trying to find our niche for this year. I've also been trying to figure out how to be just a little more active in the classrooms this year. I'm just not sure how to fit it all in and find the balance between the kids at school and the kids at school.

I've also been doing a lot of preserving and canning. I've had a wonderful abundance in my gardens mostly tomatoes and cukes. My zucchini, I think, is done. I didn't get any this week. I posted a salsa recipe and a candied pickle recipe that I've been doing this weekend on the provident pantry blog, if your interested.

Still no word on a job for Doug. We are waiting to hear back from Zion's bank. He left a message this morning. He's just been networking and job hunting. It's hard to be patient.

I've a new calling. I'm Enrichment Leader. I am only over the 4 Enrichments a year, not the little mini classes. I've started planning and putting together my first activity. A Super Saturday in October. I've also been talking with the RS Pres about an idea I got when I thought I was over all of it. We are working on a ward wide preparedness program to help our members be more rounded in our preparedness. I'll have to let you know how it goes. It's really just in the planning and organizing stages. I'm excited and nervous about how it all will work out.

Then of course there's the usual Mom stuff. Life is crazy, as usual, but I guess I wouldn't have it any other way!!
