JDRF Run...I mean walk!

On Aug 20th we participated in the JDRF
(Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)  fundraising walk/run.  At least I thought it was a walk/run, but there were so many people on such a small trail, it was ridiculuous to try to "run" it.

Before it started they served, fruit, yogurt, and granola bars before the event.  They also had big blow up slides and such.

It was a 5k, we were supposed to walk around the trail twice for the 3.1 miles.  Some of us walked while some of us attempted to "run" along the edges of the tremendous crowds.  We got ahead of everyone and then looped them as we finished the route, we found out most of the participants only went around once!  What!?

We felt cheated!! lol  Oh well.

After they provided a hot dog lunch with a paradise bakery chocolate cookie! The cookie made it worth standing in line for the lunch.

Then there were all sorts stuff going on.  Radio Disney had a booth...Kim played a limbo game and did pretty good!

Doug and Steven kept themselves busy tossing a gatorade bottle first in the air, then back and forth.  It was pretty crazy how far and how high they were tossing that thing.

It made for a fun, active Saturday morning.

Callie's Baby Blessing

Back in July, we attended Andrea and Garret's little Callie Baby Blessing.  I didn't get any pics of Callie because she was so young, she was hiding!!  Let me see if I can steal one from Andrea's Face book album...

There we go!  Congrats to Andrea and Garrett!
I can't believe how much she's changed already!

Here are a couple of the pics I did get...

I was happy to see Shawn,
He drove up from Price and met us in the "middle" so to speak.

The kids always get such a kick out of me being so short!

Just one of my beautiful girls!!
Glad Melanie came with us!

A Couple Songs

We've been working on learning the songs for the primary program.

I have 4 kids in primary this year, from sunbeam age to Kimberly being the oldest one in our primary.  We were asked to sing Reverence is Love as a family.  Our president also asked me to play for them.  I'm terrified, the last time I played in public didn't go so well.  lol

Anyway, I've been working with Natalie to learn the words, she's doing quite well...

While I was recording I just had to record this one too!  I was cleaning the bathroom last week when all of a sudden I could hear Natalie singing at the top of her lungs, I Love to See the Temple.  It made me smile, then she got to the end, and I just had to laugh!!!

Did you catch it???
The second to the last line she says...
"I'll prepare myself yum, yum yum yum, this is my sacred duty!"

Love it!!!

I AM Still Alive!!

Hello, I guess I took a blogging vacation!  Life has just been crazy, both good and not so good!

I'm going to try to re cap some of our summer little by little.  I thought about just forgetting all of it and just start from now, but this really is our family "journal" so to speak so I thought I better try to re cap, some what, at least.  But I also know if I try to do too much too fast it can be over whelming, like the rest of my life has been lately.  So, my plan is to just take it one day at a time, and try to just do one or two posts every one or two days and just try to catch up that way.  I'm not even promising it will be in any order, the idea is just to document.

I guess we'll see how it goes!

YSA Parents Day and Shawn's Bday

A couple of weeks ago, I got a letter from the College 2nd Ward in Price. He's going to school at USU Eastern formerly called CEU. It was from Shawn's Bishop inviting me to Parent's Day at the ward this last Sunday.  Shawn had not mentioned anything about it, so we wondered if he knew about it.  I called him and told him I received a letter from his Bishop and was wondering what was up?  Apparently, he's being a good boy, he didn't fess up to anything!!  lol  (That tactic worked great when he was younger! I used to be able to get the kids to fess up to stuff by getting them to think "I already knew")

Anyway, He was surprised to hear about the event, and we started to make plans.  Since it was going to be his birthday during the week, we decided to bring the family and have a little birthday celebration for him!    We, the kids and I (Doug was in Vegas for work),  rented some rooms and drove up on Saturday.  I brought him a bed, he's been sleeping on an air mattress on the floor for 6 plus months!  As well as a few other things he couldn't fit in his car.  So as soon as we got there, we unloaded the van and totally rearranged his little tiny room to accommodate what we brought.  These pics don't do it justice to see just how small this room is, and it's a mess because we just moved everything all over the place to add the bed and file cabinets!  But you get the idea.   He shares a bathroom and kitchen.  It's really small, but seems to be perfect for him, and you can't beat $140 a month for a college student!!

It was great to see where he lives and just how close he is to the bldgs he frequents for school and church.  We did get a tire fixed on his car, then we got some pizza and headed to the park with the kids.  Shawn took us to an really awesome Dinosaur Park.  We were talking to someone there, she told us this park was put together and funded entirely by the community in just a couple of days.  It was huge and it super fun!!  My camera for some reason wasn't taking the best of pics, not to mention the fact that it was getting dark as well.  But here are a few pics.

This is only the entrance!

We were late enough, I let them play and eat as they wanted so they would have time to play.

The tire swing was a huge hit!

After it was pretty dark, we decided to head back to the hotel, where we showered, did church hair, popped popcorn, watched TV, read scriptures, and went to bed.

The next morning we got up and got up and headed to the YSA Ward.  They obviously didn't have any primary or YW classes so we just stuck together, the boys with the boys and the girls with the girls.  Tiff was pretty funny, she decided to do portraits of the sisters around her.  She would look around and "spot" someone she wanted to draw.  Then she would stare at them, you know to "take in" their features, then she would draw them, Autograph it, and give it to them.  Then she would scan the room for her next portrait.  It was pretty funny!  Natalie saw the reactions of the sisters, and started to draw pictures for people as well!  It made for a great activity and kept them both busy all through Sunday School, as well as Relief Society!

After church, they served us a nice lunch, and we headed home.  It was so nice to spend the time with Shawn in his element and to get to see where he lives, works, school, church, etc.  He's currently enrolled in 18 credit hours on pretty much a full scholarship.  He also has some music students, as well as in the school plays and church choirs.  He is doing well and keeping himself pretty busy!!

Happy Birthday, Shawn!  I can hardly believe that I have been a mom for 24 years!!!
