Melanie got a New Job!

This was one of those truly "an answer to prayer" kind of jobs! She has been praying as to what to do for another job since the library only is giving her 18 hours a week. She felt like she should be working more. She was having a hard time deciding and finding something other than fast food.

Well, on Tuesday, Lynnette, a good friend, stopped me at the Halloween Carnival (I'll have to post about that later) that there was a position opening up at her Dental office and Melanie should apply if she's interested. I come home and tell Melanie when she gets home. She calls on Wednesday for an interview. She has one that afternoon. They call on Friday to tell her she has the job and she started on Monday!

It seems to be a great little train on the job, 32 hours a week job! It worked right around her hours at the library and both jobs are willing to be flexible around the 15 to 30 minutes they overlap on tues & thurs.!

Nothing like a job gift wrapped and delivered right into your lap!!!

Doesn't she look cute in her scrubs?!!

Now if only we can just get a job for Doug!!!

Look Mom, No Strings!!

I took this picture two days before Ben's accident and forgot to post it.

We were playing ulitmate frisbee for FHE and on the way home Ben out of the blue says, "Mom, Look what I can do!" It was kind of amazing! All I had with me was my cell phone camera, but what mom would I be if I didn't take a picture and put it on my blog?!? So, here it is!!

Happy Birthdays!

I can't believe I missed the birthdays!!

Can you believe it??? What kind of Mom am I???

Shawn turned 22 on Sept 21st. He came over for a couple of hours that day before he had to go to work. We didn't see him again until the Fri. He wanted to make us a homemade pizza recipe he found on some blog, somewhere. I made him a banana cake and we sang him happy bday and called it good! I guess that's how it works when they get older and don't live with us anymore!!

Ben turned 18 on Sept 23rd! He barely squeaked by getting his Eagle paperwork complete and turned in. I couldn't believe he actually made it, of course we haven't heard the official word yet, but it's all in.

Fast Forward to today...

The big news for Ben is that yesterday he had an accident at school during lunch. He was doing his parkour wall flip and got a little careless. He slipped on some wet grass and landed on his head on the cement! He didn't knock himself out, but was quite disoriented at first. His friends helped him get up and get to the office, where they called us. Doug went and got him from school and took him to Instacare. They cleaned him up and put 7 staples in the back of his head!! I did get a really good picture, but decided not to gross you out!!

He seems to be doing fine, they didn't do any head scans, but went on the assumption that he does have yet another concussion! He doesn't seem to have had any side effects. The interesting part is that his head doesn't seem to be bothering him very much at all, it's his shoulders that are bothering him more. Maybe the trauma of hitting the edge of the sidewalk?? He just has to take it easy for a little bit.

Picking Apples!

Saturday, we decided to actually pick the apples from our tree this year. The kids sure enjoyed being in the trees!!

I guess I have to back up a little...We have lived here for over 6 years and have never really had very good luck with our apples. We always get a lot of apples but because we don't spray them, we usually get a whole lot of wormy apples that really are not worth messing around with. So we usually just pick them up off the ground and throw them away.

We noticed the kids were eating more and more apples while they were playing outside. I was a little concerned about my little ones not knowing to look for the worm holes and just copying their older siblings and picking them up and eating them. When I went out and started to look at the apples, I was so surprised to see how little worm damaged they were. We actually found quite a few that seemed to be blemish free completely! We decided to take the time to pick the apples and go through them to bottle.

So Saturday was the day, we got several boxes full! (This isn't all of the them, we got another basket and two more boxes!) This was after going through and throwing away the very bad ones! I'm not sure what they will look like inside, I'll have to start peeling and coring some of them to see if they are as good on the inside as they are on the outside. We are very hopeful and amazed!

The same with our garden, I plant a garden every year and we usually get some yield but nothing too much to speak of. This year, our gardens have been VERY plentiful!

We feel very blessed to have such an abundance of food literally just fall into our laps, time and time again!!

Guitar Hero, World Tour!

We have been having so much fun with Doug's Brother, Brent's, Family while they have been here almost two weeks now. WE are ALL so SAD to see it come to an end. Stephanie, their daughter, is headed to the MTC tomorrow, and they are headed north. I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

Yesterday, Doug went downstairs to get Tiffany to take her nap and he found this...He thought it would be cute to take some pictures.

She was playing "Guitar" with her sister and cousin, Michael. I'm amazed at how fast these kids catch on! It cracks me up to see such concentration on her face!!

Crazy Hair Day!!

Last week at the elementary was Red Ribbon Week, the kids had several days where they had to dress up...one day was backwards shirt day, one day they had to wear an animal on their shirt, and one day they had crazy hair day! They seemed to love this one the best!

Family Party!

Just a note, I just put a fun post about a Forsyth Party we held last week on the Extended Forsyth Blog. We had about 45 family members here from Canada, Spokane and all around here for dinner and visiting. We really had a great time, if your interested go have a look see!
